Introducing Gloriosa Rotonda: A New Chapter for The Bärds
The music scene has witnessed the transformation of The Bärds into Gloriosa Rotonda, a new project born out of the desire to start anew and challenge their own sound. Charly Whisper (vocals), Ford Flamingo (guitar), Javier Gary Gable Garay (drums), Tommy GoRoyals DeWolfe (bass), and Abe Sánchez (guitar) have come together to form a distinct entity, one that is not a continuation of their previous work, but rather a fresh beginning.
A New Beginning
As the band members themselves have stated, “Gloriosa Rotonda was born out of the need to start from scratch, to create something new and put ourselves to the test.” This desire to evolve and push their sound in new directions led them to form a new band, rather than simply continuing as The Bärds. The years spent playing together have undoubtedly made the process easier, allowing them to perform with the confidence that comes from being surrounded by friends rather than just fellow musicians. However, their sound has undergone significant changes, and they now find themselves farther away from the raw, garage-rock sound that characterized their earlier work.
Signing with Limbo Starr and Debut Release
Gloriosa Rotonda’s journey began with a significant milestone: signing with Limbo Starr, a reputable independent record label known for releasing impressive albums. The band had long been admirers of the label and never thought they would have the opportunity to work with them. This partnership has led to the release of their debut EP, a self-titled effort that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in their career.
Live Performances and Upcoming Shows
The band’s first live performance, held at La Siroco in Madrid, was a resounding success and served as a catalyst for their upcoming shows. As they stated, “Madrid is our home, the nexus that brings us together, and we were eager to play there.” The band will be performing at El Veintiuno in Huesca on May 18th, alongside Tigres Leones, followed by a show at El Poeta Eléctrico in Zaragoza on May 19th, also with Tigres Leones. Additionally, they will be appearing at the Festival PolifoniK in Barbastro on June 23rd.
Music and Style
Gloriosa Rotonda’s EP features five tracks, with a couple of them exceeding the two-minute mark. The band believes that a good song doesn’t necessarily have to be short or long; what matters is the energy and concision that drives their music. As they put it, “Our music is concise, and that’s where its strength lies. We need to maintain the electric, frenetic pulse until the very end, without losing momentum.” The EP is available in various formats, including vinyl, CD, and digital streaming, with a visually striking design that makes the physical formats a worthwhile investment.
Visual Identity and Music Videos
The band’s visual identity is an integral part of their overall aesthetic, and they were keen to collaborate with Brosmind, a design studio they discovered through their work on the Festival Periferias de Huesca poster. The resulting design is a vibrant, eye-catching representation of the band’s music and style. Additionally, their music video for “Pasta Pizza” offered a tantalizing glimpse into their work, although it also came with the challenge of removing stubborn food stains from their clothing. The band has recently released a making-of video for the clip, which showcases the hard work and dedication that went into creating the final product.
