NFL Coaching Carousel: Experts Weigh in on Best Fits for Top Jobs
The NFL coaching carousel is spinning out of control, with top candidates being courted by multiple teams and dominoes falling left and right. As the situation continues to unfold, our experts are weighing in on the best fits for the top jobs available. From the Steelers to the Giants, and from the Ravens to the Falcons, we’re breaking down the top candidates and what they would bring to each team.
Steelers: A New Era Begins
The Steelers are looking for a new head coach after Mike Tomlin’s departure, and our experts have some intriguing suggestions. Frank Schwab thinks the team should make a run at Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, who has been making waves in the college football world. If that doesn’t work out, Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula could be a great fit, given his experience in the Sean McVay tree. Jori Epstein, on the other hand, believes Robert Saleh would be an excellent choice, given his ability to motivate a top-five defense and navigate the quarterback wilderness.
Ravens: Urgency to Win Now
The Ravens can’t afford to waste any more of Lamar Jackson’s prime, and our experts agree that they need a coach who can win now. Frank Schwab thinks Kevin Stefanski would be the best possible hire, given his experience and ability to call a productive offense. Jori Epstein believes Jesse Minter, the Chargers’ defensive coordinator, would be an excellent choice, given his ability to transform defenses and sustain success. Charles Robinson, meanwhile, thinks Stefanski is the way to go, given his even-keel personality and ability to connect with Jackson.
